School History

The parish began as a worshipping community with the inaugural Mass being celebrated on the 6th January 1974. The Mass was held in the Lions Hall at the Pine Rivers Showground with the first Parish Priest, Father Tom Crean C.S.Sp.

Before this time, the Mass had been administered from the parish of Petrie. In 1974 the Pine Rivers Parish site was established on the lovely grounds that are now the site of the Holy Spirit Parish and School.

Funds for the first parish church/hall were raised by the generosity and commitment of the parishioners via many varied activities.

Due to the incredible commitment of our early parishioners, the wonderful church building we now have was officially opened on the 13th of April 1980.

The original church is now the site of our Outside School Hours Care (OSHC).

Holy Spirit School commenced in January 1977, with 142 students attending in Grades 1 and 2. The first classroom building, which has since been removed, was situated in the undercover area we call 'Friendship Court'. The school's inaugural Principal was Mr Terry Cumner.

During this time the school P&F was formed and the generosity, spirit and commitment of the school and parish community was established and is still very much evident today.

Within a short time, the school continued to expand with the building of several blocks of classrooms and sporting areas.

There has been a hive of building activity throughout the past dozen years, with most buildings either being refurbished or demolished and replaced.

Our fabulous school hall was completed in 2011, and at the same time our drop off/pick up zone was created.
