Holy Spirit Catholic School, Bray Park, has a rich history grounded in faith, community and a shared commitment to Catholic education.
The Holy Spirit Parish began as a worshipping community in January 1974, when the inaugural Mass was celebrated by Father Tom Crean C.S.Sp. in the Lions Hall at the Pine Rivers Showground. Prior to this, parishioners were supported by the Parish of Petrie. Later that year, the Pine Rivers Parish site was established on the grounds that are now home to both Holy Spirit Parish and Holy Spirit Catholic School. Through the generosity, dedication and fundraising efforts of parishioners, the parish community flourished, culminating in the official opening of the current church building in April 1980.
Holy Spirit Catholic School opened its doors in January 1977 with 142 students enrolled in Grades 1 and 2. The school's first Principal, Mr Terry Cumner, led the establishment of a learning community built on faith, service and strong family partnerships. The original classroom building was located in the area now known as Friendship Court.
From its earliest days, the school community demonstrated remarkable spirit and commitment. The formation of the Parents and Friends Association helped create a culture of collaboration and support that remains a defining feature of the school today. As enrolments grew, the school expanded with new classrooms, sporting facilities and improved learning spaces.
Over the years, Holy Spirit has continued to evolve to meet the needs of contemporary learners. Significant redevelopment has seen many facilities refurbished or replaced, including the completion of the school hall in 2011 and the development of the dedicated drop-off and pick-up zone.
Today, Holy Spirit Catholic School honours the vision, hard work and faith of those who established our community. We continue to build on this strong foundation, providing a contemporary Catholic education where every child is known, valued and supported to flourish in learning, faith and life.
